The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has held its 90th national executive council to resolve issues creating division in the party as well as preparing for the 2023 general elections.

Fifteen serving governors of the Peoples Democratic Party and other party Chieftains observed a minute silence in honour of those who died from the covid-19 and the recent End SARS protests across the country.

The first to mount the podium was the national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus who believed that unity among members is the only key to victory in 2023.

On the part of the Governors, they assured members of the party that they will ensure that the issue of anti-party activities is addressed early before it gets out of hamd.

The party also noted that it refused to join issues with the Governor of Ebonyi state and will not bow to blackmail.

On Tuesday, the Ebonyi state governor, Dave Umahi had announced that he has joined the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to campaign for President of Igbo extraction.

Governor Umahi’s defection had generated reactions from the party’s chieftains and others who believed that he is desperate to cling the 2023 presidential ticket under the ruling party.

As at the time of filing the report, members at the PDP NEC meeting are in a close door meeting and expected to issue a communique at the end.
