The Police Service Commission, PSC has stepped down the promotion of 112 senior officers while elevating 175 others.

This follows the failure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to comply with the directive of the Commission to attach the Presidential approval for the creation of additional Police Zonal Commands and Departments where vacancies are to be filled by the officers recommended for promotion.

The decisions were part of the highpoints of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the Commission held in Abuja and presided over by its Chairman, retired Inspector General of Police, Musiliu Smith.

In a statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations Officer, Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission promoted one Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Sanusi Lemu to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, to replace retired DIG Abdulmajid Ali, representing the North Central. It also approved the promotion of one Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura who served in Anambra and Rivers State Commands to the substantive rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG.

The Commission also confirmed the acting appointments of 60 senior police officers including 3 Commissioners of Police and 4 Deputy Commissioners. The beneficiaries include former Force Public Relations Officer DCP Jimoh Moshood who is currently the DCP, CID, Airport Command, Lagos.

The Commission’s decisions are expected to be conveyed to the Inspector General of Police on Monday, October 5 for implementation.
