The South-East leaders have appealed to the Federal Government to commence international flight operations immediately at the just re-opened Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu for quick revenue generation.
The leaders who graced the re-opening ceremony in Enugu State on Sunday said that the closure of the airport for a year has affected the economic development of the southeast.

Governors of the southeast, Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, Managing Director, FAAN, Rabiu Yadudu, NCAA’s Director-General, Nuhu Musa, members of the National Assembly and other top Government functionaries attended the ceremony.

The Akanu Ibiam Airport was shut down for upgrading to accommodate international flight operations in order to serve the cities in southeast.
It is the fifth international airport in the country.
