Staff of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund, NSITF have crippled activities at the agency’s head office in Abuja and all branches in the thirty six states of the federation over Salary adjustment delay.

The workers who are under the Association of Senior staff of Banks, insurance and Financial institutions, ASSBIFI and the National Union of Banks, insurance and financial institutions, stormed the NSITF offices as early as 8am on Friday, chanting solidarity songs.

ait.live gathered that both ASSBIFI, an affiliate of the trade union congress and NUBIFI, an affiliate of Nigeria Labour Congress, have had several meetings with the NSITF Management and its parent ministry, the ministry of Labour and Employment, but to no avail.

The protesting workers say the management had agreed to begin implementation of the new salary adjustment and review from January 2023, but they kept shifting the date.

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige in a media chat with journalists in his office had promised to begin implementation of the new salary packages.

As at the time of filing this report, the NSITF Management and officials of the Federal Ministry of Labour and employment are yet to react to the development.
