The Kaduna State government has said it is looking inwards to address the State’s current financial crisis, following the debt burden incurred by the previous administration.
The Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service (KADRIS), Jerry Adams, disclosed this during the quarterly review meeting of the agency in Kaduna State.
The meeting was aimed at strategizing on how to meet the goal of generating N120 billion in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by 2024, as set by Governor Uba Sani.
To achieve this target, KADIRS Chairman, Jerry Adams, explained that the agency has devised mechanisms to enhance the capacity of its staff and motivate them, to put more efforts into tax collection.
The idea, he said, is to enable the State government to pay salaries, and complete both new and abandoned projects across the State.
Adams emphasised that Governor Uba Sani, has pledged to invest in capacity building and staff welfare, to motivate the State’s employees, to perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
While urging the residents of Kaduna to pay their taxes for the economic development of the State, the KADIRS boss also promised to encourage and reward staff, who diligently carry out their duties.
