The Kaduna State Government has vowed to seal the shops and businesses of tax defaulters who refuse to comply with the state’s tax laws.
The Board Secretary and Legal Adviser of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, (KADIRS), Aisha Ahmed, made this known during an enforcement exercise in Kaduna.
In an effort to meet the 120 billion Naira Internally Generated Revenue, (IGR) target by 2024, set by Governor Uba Sani, the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, (KADIRS), has initiated enforcement exercises across the state.
The aim is to close shops and businesses that have failed to pay their tax liabilities.
The agency began with the United Bank of Africa, (UBA), which owes the state 14 million Naira in taxes, from 2019 to 2021.
While encouraging Kaduna residents to pay their taxes for the economic development of the state, Aisha Ahmed emphasised the importance of taxation, saying that no economy can survive without taxes.
KADIRS announced that it would continue its enforcement exercises, until tax defaulters settle their outstanding liabilities.
