Residents of Kabala West in Kaduna South Local Government Area have appealed to Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, to complete a road project in their community that has been abandoned for over three years.
The appeal was made during the community’s annual sanitation exercise at the Kabala Cemetery.
Kabala West, a densely populated area in Kaduna metropolis, continues to struggle with a lack of basic social amenities, including good road infrastructure.
The community’s major road, which connects to Tudun Wada, Hayin Nariya, and the Western By-pass, was under construction but was abandoned by the previous administration.
The residents now call on the current government to complete the project, citing numerous challenges caused by the road’s poor state.
Motorists and business owners narrated how the bad road has led to frequent accidents and forced many businesses to shutdown
During the annual sanitation of the Kabala Cemetery, youths, women, the elderly, and even physically challenged residents called on the government and well-meaning individuals to intervene.
They requested solar lights and fencing for the cemetery to prevent criminal activities within its premises.
Residents lamented that the last major road construction they benefited was during the military era under the Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
