The Kaduna State Government has reiterated its commitment to improving the welfare of health workers and revamping six secondary health facilities in the state.
The Commissioner of Health, Kaduna State, Umma Ahmed, disclosed this at the second Annual General Meeting of the Kada Nurses and Midwives Empowerment Initiative in Kaduna State, North West Nigeria.
Umma added that the essence is to address the issue of nursing attrition in the state.
While appreciating Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani for his plans to enhance the lives of nurses by improving their working environment, the Chairman of the National Association of Nurses and Midwives, Kaduna State Council, Ishaku Yakubu, appealed to the Governor to settle some of their outstanding entitlements.
Ishaku mentioned that some health facilities in rural communities are facing security challenges due to the lack of perimeter fences and security personnel. He called on the government to protect health facilities and workers.
