Twenty-one passengers have died in a fatal road accident at Kasuwar Dogo, Dakatsalle, along the Kano-Zaria Road.
The accident occurred around 8:23 a.m. at Kasuwar Dogo in the Dakatsalle area and involved a DAF trailer and a Toyota Hummer bus
According to the Kano State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps Mohammed Bature, the Hummer bus was driving against traffic when it collided head-on with the trailer.
The impact caused a fire that engulfed both vehicles, burning most of the victims beyond recognition.
The FRSC says twenty-four people were involved in the crash. Sadly, 21 persons lost their lives, while three others sustained various degrees of injuries
The Sector Commander Mohammed Bature said the FRSC rescue team alerted both federal and state fire services and rushed to the scene to begin evacuation and rescue operations.
The remains of the dead were taken to the Nassarawa Hospital mortuary, while the injured are receiving treatment at Garun Malam General Hospital.
FRSC officials, with support from the police and a tow truck unit, cleared the road to restore traffic on the busy highway.
Bature described the crash as tragic and extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and warned drivers against wrong-way driving, speeding, and dangerous overtaking, which he identified as major causes of fatal accidents.
