Kano State government on Wednesday banned the use of commercial boats to ferry passengers on the Bagwai-Badau River in the Bagwai Local Government Area of the state.
This follows a Tuesday mishap, where a boat with about 50 passengers capsized, claiming the lives of about 29 passengers.
A statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba, said in the interim, the government has provided two buses for passengers, to shuttle between Badau and Bagwai, while three new boats would be procured, for effective water transportation in the area.
