Kano State has taken a bold step toward reclaiming its place as the cultural heartbeat of Northern Nigeria as Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf officially declared open the maiden edition of the Kano Festival of Arts and Culture
Governor Yusuf says the festival going forward, will be a platform that will drive tourism, create tangible jobs, and diversify the state’s economy.
Thousands of Kano residents from all walks of life, traditional rulers from the state’s emirates, and guests from within and outside Nigeria converged on Kano for the historic opening of the first-ever Kano Festival of Arts and Culture.
The festival, conceived to celebrate the cultural heritage and artistic expressions of the people of Kano, is also expected to serve as a platform for boosting tourism and creating economic opportunities.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his government’s readiness to support and sustain the festival, describing it as a vehicle for cultural preservation and economic diversification.
The Governor also directed all Emirs in the state to commence immediate preparations for the annual Durbar festivals across the four Emirates.
Tourists from across Nigeria and abroad are participating in the event — not only to enjoy the artistic displays, but also to explore the economic opportunities that the festival presents.
