Kano demolition tragedy: Governor Yusuf compensates community

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf has visited the Rimin Zakara community, in Ungogo Local Government Area to express condolences to the families affected by the recent demolition exercise that resulted in the tragic loss of three lives and left several others injured during a demolition enforcement.

The Governor who directed the management of Bayero University to immediately halt the demolition exercise which was escalated, approved multi-billion-naira infrastructure projects to the affected community.

The community, Rimin Zakara os host to Bayero University Kano and has been embroiled in land dispute over the past thirty years, with the university enforcing a demolition, resulting in the death of three persons in the community during a confrontation with Armed Security officials.

Governor Abba Yusuf visited the bereaved community to sympathize with the affected families, expressing sadness over the development which he says is avoidable.

He announced that Kano State Government has picked the medical liabilities of those injured.

Call it a blessing in disguise, you may be correct, as governor Yusuf during the visit announced some infrastructural projects to be sited in the community with immediate effect.

With a pledge to take over the welfare of the affected families including the education of their children, Governor Yusuf issued a stern warning to security men against the use of live ammunition on innocent citizens during such operations.
