Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf says his administration’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector will be pursued with massive investment in physical infrastructure development and training of quality teachers.
The governor made the commitment when he paid an unscheduled visit to the Kano state college of Education, expressing disappointment at the level of infrastructural decay and abandonment by the previous administration.
The Kano State College of Education was established during the administration of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso with the aim of training middle manpower for basic and junior secondary school, with Engineer Abba Yusuf, who was the commissioner for Works.
After nine years, Abba Yusuf is visiting the school as Governor, but not happy at the level of growth in the school.
The governor promised immediate total rehabilitation of the teacher training college.
Abba Yusuf says investment in the training of teachers will have multiplier effect in his administration’s drive in reducing the number of out of school children.
Governor Abba recently committed about thirty percent of the 2024 budget to the sector with other programmes initiated aimed at the speedy recovery of the sector.
