Kano Gov.Swears In New Commissioner For Internal Security

Kano State governor Abba Yusuf has sworn in retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umar, as the new commissioner for internal security and special services, with a charge on him to work toward ensuring a more peaceful Kano state.

The swearing in which took place during the 28th State Executive council meeting, also saw the governor highlighting some modest efforts of his administration in the area of health, education and infrastructure development.

It’s the second State Executive council meeting held at Kwankwasiya city and the 28th in the series, since Abba Yusuf took over as governor of Kano state.

Before the commencement of the Executive Council Meeting, governor Abba Yusuf, administered the oath of office and allegiance on Air Vice marshal Ibrahim Umaru Retired, assigning the portfolio of commissioner for internal security to him.

Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru retired, is bringing on board a thirty five years post military experience, having served the Nigeria Air Force, particularly as an aircraft engineer where he rose to the position of Chief of Aircraft maintenance, supporting flight operations at the Air Force flying school for about ten years.

During his service years, he was part of the delegations and team leader to peacekeeping operations in Sierra Leone and ECOMOG

AVM Umaru was first appointed by Governor Abba Yusuf as Director General Special service unit, where he coordinated the joint task force comprising all security agencies in the state, supervising the operations of the joint task force in the fight against petty crimes, thuggery, phone snatching and other civil disturbance in Kano state.

Addressing journalists at the council meeting, Governor Yusuf says some school infrastructures are ready for immediate distribution across the forty-four local government areas of the state.

The Governor also highlighted interventions made within the short period in the health sector.

About three local and international organizations presented awards to the governor at the sitting, for excelling in governance in health, education and other sectors.
