The Kano State Government has called on residents to enter the New Year 2026 with deliberate security consciousness, urging them to promptly report any suspicious movements or security flashpoints of insecurity across the state to law enforcement agencies.

The Commissioner for Internal Security, retired Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Umaru, disclosed this in a statement to AIT in Kano, saying Governor Abba Yusuf has continued to accord top priority to the security of lives and property.

According to him the commissioner, while the government is strengthening security architecture, residents are expected to play their part by remaining vigilant, law abiding and providing credible intelligence to security agencies to act upon.

Air Vice Marshal Umaru noted that internal security of the rich commercial state has been significantly reinforced ahead of the New Year festivities, assuring residents, business owners, and visitors that adequate measures are in place to guarantee their safety as they go about their activities.

He confirmed that security operatives recently neutralized some suspected bandits who attempted to infiltrate the state through the northern axis, commending the Joint Task Force for their gallantry and swift response which led to the death of some of the bandits.

According to the statement, the government has provided adequate welfare and motivation, patrol vehicles, motorcycles and other logistics that would enable security agents, especially those on special operations, to function well.

The commissioner added that the newly deployed Neighbourhood Security Corps will further strengthen collaboration among the police, military, and other security agencies, particularly in intelligence gathering and information sharing.
