Kano State Government has set an ambitious target of registering 10 million eligible voters during the nationwide voter registration which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is set to begin on Monday.
Secretary to the State Government, Umar Ibrahim made this known while inaugurating the State Voter Registration Mobilization Committee.
Ibrahim said the initiative reflects government’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible resident of Kano has the opportunity to register and exercise his or her civic responsibility in future elections.

Responding, the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, who is the chairman of the committee, assured the state government that they would deliver on their mandate.
The committee is a broad-based body comprising technocrats, Islamic scholars, broadcasters, business leaders, and other critical stakeholders, including representatives of opposition political parties.
