The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping repentant thugs undergoing rehabilitation with productive, income-generating skills under the Kano Model of Operation Safe Corridor.
The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known while distributing Sallah gifts to the beneficiaries, urging young people to shun crime and contribute positively to societal development.
Over the past year, young residents of Kano have voluntarily surrendered their weapons and pledged to abandon thuggery and other petty crimes.
In response, the state government granted them amnesty and enrolled them in the Operation Safe Corridor rehabilitation programme, aimed at reintegrating them into society as responsible citizens.
While presenting cash and Sallah items to them, Commissioner Ibrahim Waiya, on behalf of the governor Abba Yusuf, assured that the administration remains committed to empowering them through various skill acquisition initiatives.
Each beneficiary received clothing materials and cash support, one of the gestures they periodically receive from the governor
