Residents of Kano State have accused filling stations of hoarding Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, in a bid to sell at an exorbitant price, which has culminated in queues at major petrol stations.
The hoarding, according to the residents, is coming on the heels of a plan to increase the petrol price by the federal government.
Many filling stations in the state were opened but not dispensing petrol to prospective buyers.
Some residents who could not endure the long queue in some petrol stations, resorted to buying from the roadside black market.

They accused some of the petrol stations of hoarding and called for government’s intervention.
Motorists and shop owners pleaded with the Federal Government not to remove the subsidy on petrol as doing so could lead to an increase in the price.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has ruled out any plan to increase the price of petrol, which did not deter the residents from engaging in panic buying.
