The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru, has disputed the widely circulated rumour that schools in Kano will not resume on Monday, January 18.
Clearing the air, the commissioner reaffirmed the earlier directive issued by the ministry, that all boarding school students in the state should resume on Sunday, January 17, 2021, while day students are to resume on Monday January 18th.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education in Kano State, Aliyu Yusuf.
The commissioner, therefore, urged parents, guardians, and the general public, to disregard the rumour.
He said that the state government has no plans to extend the resumption dates.
Kiru then called on parents to comply with the directives, so that their wards would resume on time for the commencement of the academic calendar, which has been released by the ministry.
