Relief has come for thousands of families in Kano State, as government steps in to ease the burden of examination fees for students and parents.
This follows the approval by the Governor Yusuf Abba administration to release N4 billion to cover the registration fees for no fewer than 130,000 secondary school students sitting for external examinations.
The Governor made the announcement at the 39th State Executive Council meeting, noting that the beneficiaries emerged successful in the state’s qualifying examination.
Following the success of the qualifying examination written across the state, Governor Yusuf says the funding will ensure that all eligible students are registered for key external examinations without financial constraints.
Governor Yusuf attributes the 2025 NECO success and other achievements to the state’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector, a move aimed at revitalising learning outcomes.
At the same council meeting, Abba Yusuf also expressed confidence in the newly nominated Deputy Governor, Mustapha Garo, who is set to be sworn in.
Beyond examination support, the Governor revealed that large-scale construction and rehabilitation works are ongoing across educational institutions in the state, as part of broader efforts to strengthen the sector under the ongoing recovery phase.
