Kano State Government has dismissed the crowd that attended the defection of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the African Democratic Congress, ADC describing it as a “rented gathering,”with a call on its supporters to remain focused and not be distracted.

Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Waiya, who spoke exclusively to AIT.live said the administration is clear about its political direction and remains committed to delivering on its mandate.

Hundreds of supporters thronged Miller Road in the Bonpai area of Kano on Monday for the defection of the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Kwankwaso into the ADC.

But the state government has downplayed the turnout. Commissioner for Information Ibrahim Waiya described the event as a “failed outing,” insisting that genuine political strength in the state lies with the current administration.

He added that ongoing projects across Kano reflect the governor’s development-driven agenda and will ultimately determine political dominance in the state when political activities start.

Meanwhile, residents are anxiously waiting as Governor Abba Yusuf is expected to nominate a new deputy governor following the resignation of Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, who has also joined the ADC.
