The counsel for the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on the President Mohammedu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami to look into the alleged continued detention of his domestic staff by men of the State Security Service (SSS) since June 6, 2021.
Ejiofor, who made the call during a news briefing in Abuja on Friday, said the abduction occurred when a team of armed security agents invaded his home in Anambra State in 2021.
While calling for the unconditional release of his domestic staff Ejiofor also said the Federal high court in Awka, had given a judgment in a suit which he filed against the DSS, declaring the invasion of his house as, uncivilised, illegal and unconstitutional.
Justice Hassan Nganjiwa, in the judgement delivered on July 22, 2022, awarded N109million in damages against the DSS, Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigerian Army, who are defendants in the case.
Ejiofor held that the invasion on his family home in Oraifite, Ekwusigo Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State left his personal assistant Samuel Okoro dead, and his brother Joel Ejiofor, driver Felix Okonkwo, gardener Okafor Ugochukwu and steward Ikenna Chibuike, missing.
