Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas says residents of Kashimbilla community whose lands were acquired for Nigeria’s 40 megawatts hydropower project will be resettled.
The projects have already begun the supply of electricity to parts of Southern Taraba, and some parts of Benue States.
The Kashimbilla dam which has a storage capacity of 500 million cubic meters was constructed to tackle the over-flowing of Lake Nyos from the Republic of Cameroon, which led to the destruction of lives and property in Kashimbilla village.
The dam which is estimated to contribute at least 40 megawatts of electricity to Nigeria’s National Grid was virtually commissioned by former president Muhammadu Buhari in May this year.
But, the resettlement of communities whose lands were acquired for the project is one of the issues to be looked into, as Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, visits the hydropower facility, in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
