Following the fire outbreak that gutted the chamber of the Katsina State House Of Assembly Complex, members of the assembly have temporarily relocated to the conference hall of the Local Government Service Commission, for its legislative activities.

The House leader of the assembly, Abubakar Abukur, said this, when he led other members of the house to Governor Aminu Masari, to present the fourteen-member committee, to investigate the remote cause of the fire incident.

Abukur who is also the chairman of the committee said, the decision to form the committee followed an emergency meeting of some legislative members, the Management Staff of the House, and officials of the state’s fire service.

According to him, the committee has only two weeks to submit its report, with specific terms of reference, to investigate the causes of the fire incident and ascertain the extent of damage it has caused, as well as recommendations on its renovation.

Governor Aminu Masari while receiving the members, agreed with their resolution to relocate to the Conference Hall of the Local Government Service Commission.

The measure according to the governor is to allow for sustained legislative activities, pending the renovation of the legislative chambers gutted by the fire.

While assuring members of the assembly of timely renovation of the chamber, Masari appreciated the involvement of professionals in the committee, and directed for timely submission of estimates for prompt action.

According to the House leader, the committee has only two weeks to submit its report.
