More details have emerged on how the Divisional Police Officer of Jibiya Local Government Area in Katsina State, Deputy Superintendent Abdullahi Rano, was shot and killed on Wednesday by terrorists who invaded the border town.
Rano was said to have been gunned down when he led security operatives including troops of the Nigerian Army to repel the terrorists and save some abductees when they stormed the town around 2 a.m.
A military commander , Lieutenant Masoyi was reported injured during the attack but is now responding to treatment in hospital.
ait.live gathered that the terrorists arrived in the town in two vehicles, a J5 and Sharon and first attacked the house of one Haliru Mai Bakin Mai located at Magama-Jibiya where they abducted his wife as the security agencies made efforts to repel them.
The terrorists reportedly later went to Matsiga community in the town where a reinforcement of security operatives led by the late DPO engaged them in a gun duel leading to the terrorists shooting and killing him while the army Commander, was also injured.
The late DPO Rano has been buried in Kano his home state according to Islamic rites,Calm is said to have been restored in the border area with the presence of security operatives.
