Suspected bandits have allegedly killed the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chairman of Batsari Local Government Area, Abdulhamid Mamman at his village, Sabon Garin Dumburawa.
Mamman was killed on Sunday trying to resist being kidnapped by his assailants.
Sources who pleaded anonymity said the body of late Mamman has been deposited at the Batsari General Hospital ahead of burial.
Parts of Katsina State have come under relentless activities of bandits; forcing villagers to flee the area in droves to neighbouring Republic of Niger for safety.
The attacks have continued despite deployment of special military force in the area.

There was another bandits attack on villages in Faskari Local Government Area; with at least 3 persons killed.
The attack came barely a week after similar assaults by bandits in the area.
