Both traditional and religious leaders in the Daura senatorial zone of Katsina state, have pledged to take it as a point of responsibility to ensure sustainability and monitoring of laudable projects carried out by the World Bank, Adolescent Girls’ Initiative For Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, project.
They made their stance known at a One-day sensitization meeting with 621 traditional and religious leaders on the implementation of the AGILE project in collaboration with the state government across the state for their support and monitoring of the project implementation.
Having spent billions of naira to ensure the girl child not only goes to school but, transits from junior, primary to senior secondary school, the world bank AGILE project has taken steps further to make sure communities own and sustain the projects which is part of its objectives.

To make that happen, the project brought together in Daura zone 621 traditional and religious leaders to sensitize them on the need to effectively monitor the implementation of the various projects ranging from billions of naira in school improvement and large grants, among others.
The state project coordinator of AGILE, Dr. Mustapha Shehu is optimistic that, the goal will be achieved as communities have started showing such interest.
The communication and social norms component lead, Umar Ibrahim, hinted that the sensitization of the stakeholders is a strategy of the project to effectively and efficiently engage them as custodians of traditions and religious values.
On behalf of the participants, the representative of the District head of Daura, Abdulrahman Mukthar pledged to do the needful by carrying out effective monitoring and supervision.
