The Katsina State Government in its drive to ensure an effective, efficient, and result-oriented workforce has said that it has spent 300 million Naira on training and retraining of over 3,495 workers since its inception in 2015, including medical doctors across the state.

The Head of Civil Service, Idris Tune, said this in Katsina during a 3-day workshop on Attitudinal Change and Ethical Conduct.

The Katsina State Head of Civil Service said a huge amount was expended on both short and long term specialised training, both at home and abroad, for medical doctors and others, to sharpen their managerial skills, aimed at having a sound workforce in the state.

Tune further added that recently, the state government through its Department of Establishments trained about 200 directors on computer literacy, saying three additional pieces of training are on the pipeline especially for those on the verge of retiring from service.

The training consultant, Pius Odio, said only training and retraining will avert the challenges facing the civil service.

He urged the participants to utilise the knowledge.

Participants who are drawn from the different ministries, agencies, and parastatals of the state government are made up of directors and are expected to pass on the training to their subordinates.
