Katsina Government to work with organisations to find solution to banditry

Katsina State government has pledged to work with any organization willing to assist it find lasting solution to the banditry in the state.

The Deputy Governor, Mannir Yakubu, said this when he received in the audience, members of the Advocacy, Mediation, And Reconciliation Council, aimed at making Nigeria a more peaceful country, beginning from the communities.

The delegation was led by its Chairman, Ambassador Aminu Wali, and Co-Chairman, Abidu Yazid.

The Council for Advocacy Mediation and Reconciliation is under the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy, and Development.

They are in Katsina for their inaugural meeting.

The Advocacy, Mediation And Reconciliation Council are on a mission to make Nigeria a more peaceful country.

Receiving the delegation, Deputy Governor Mannir Yakubu, said he believed that, with the composition and caliber of members of the council, they will use their wealth of experience to come up with recommendations, that will help the country to get rid of the current security challenges, which he described as community-based.

Chairman of the committee, Ambassador Aminu Wali, told the deputy governor that the initiative is non political, aimed at seeking solutions for the banditry affecting the northwest and parts of the North central region of the country.

According to Wali, the Advocacy, Mediation And Reconciliation Council is presently being implemented in the 6 states of Katsina, Kaduna, Kano, Plateau, Benue and Kogi.

The House Leader of the Katsina State Assembly, Abubakar Abukur said, the assembly will continue to make favourable laws, aimed at fostering peace and security in the state.

The council further engaged some critical players in the security sector on community initiative, to promote peace, where it unveiled the community engagement policy outcome document, for the state.
