Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari has lifted the ban on Friday prayers and Sunday services imposed as part of measures to stop the spread of Coronavirus in the state with immediate effect.
This is contained in a statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mustapha Inuwa.
The statement says the suspension of the ban was as a result of a meeting held between the state government, religious and traditional leaders and security agents to review the measures taken to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Inuwa further added that, the suspension of the ban is with a condition that, all religious leaders are expected to conduct their sermons in brief with a view to discharging their followers in time under some health and security guidelines.

The statement added that people should continue observing all regulations placed by health official’s especially regular hand washing and maintaining social distancing to curb the spread of the disease.
Meanwhile, in a telephone interview with the chief press secretary to the SSG, Abdullahi Yar’adua, the governor is expected to meet with the state leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN on the review on the ban of Sunday services.
On lifting the ban placed on Friday prayers at a time the state recorded its first coronavirus case and death, Yar’adua said the decision was taken before the unfortunate development.
He therefore added that, any development on the issue shall be duly communicated.
