The Katsina State government says it is committing over 9 billion Naira to the Danja Dam Project, aimed at addressing water shortages and complementing the recently completed Zobe Regional Water Project by the Federal government in the Dutsinma Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner for Water Resources, Adamu Funtua speaking exclusively with ait.live said the Federal Government will provide adequate protection, maintenance and functionality of the multi-billion Naira project, to serve both the economic and social needs of the people.

He said to ensure proper handling of the project, a train the trainer’s course was organised for those who will man the project.
The Commissioner also said that even before the commissioning of the project by President Muhammadu Buhari, the state government had been running it efficiently, adding that all arrangements have been put in place by the state government to ensure the safe and proper functioning of the project at full capacity.
He said the state government under Aminu Bello Masari has been deeply involved in the issue of water supply spending about 18 billion Naira annually on water related issues.
