As part of efforts to further curb the spread of Covid-19 amongst the inmates of the Nigeria Correctional Services, the Katsina State Government has donated palliative packages and facilities to the inmates’ treatment centre.
A statement by the Katsina Correctional Services Public Relations Officer, DSC Ibrahim Wada, says, the items include 400 mattresses, 15 bundles of mats, 100 buckets, 100 blankets, 400 cups, 400 eating pan, and other utensils.
Other items include cooking pots, 200 big padlocks, 1 big grinding machine for grains, 1 small grinding machine for vegetables, 100 Cartons of multi-purpose soap, 500 mosquito nets, and 500 bathroom slippers.

Wada added that other items are, 3 Infrared thermometers, 50 Hand sanitizers, 5 Packs of disposable face masks, 250 hand made face masks, 30 gallons of disinfectants, a 65 KVA Power Generating set, a Desktop computer and Printer, 1 Photocopier machine and a 2,000watts Stabilizer, 10 Office tables and 10 Chairs, 2 office cabinets, assorted drugs, hospital kits and laboratory apparatus.
The Katsina Correctional Service image maker further added that other interventions include, the fencing of the clinic with zinc roofing sheet, security barrier at checkpoint, using G I pipe, fumigation and clearing of the surrounding, water supply and reticulations, generator stand, shed and security shed.
While receiving the donation on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections, Ja’afaru Ahmed, the Controller of Corrections, Katsina State Command, Muhammad Abdulmumin Haruna, applauded the effort and timely intervention of the State Government, promising that the service will make proper use of the donated items.
