The Katsina State Government has partially reviewed the current Security Challenges Containment Order, directing that small ruminants such as goats and sheep be allowed to be sold in the markets.
The Chairman of the state’s Implementation And Enforcement Committee, who doubles as the Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba, announced this in a statement issued by the spokesman of the command, Superintendent Gambo Isah.
According to the statement, Governor Aminu Masaris has directed that smaller animals such as goats and sheep should not be affected by the containment order.
It also added that the Chairman of the Committee has also directed all Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, to allow the sale of that category of animals in markets across the state.

Isah added that the information is for the guidance of the enforcement committee and all stakeholders.
It could be recalled that Governor Aminu Masari had signed a Security Challenges Containment Order that banned the sale of cattle in markets in the state, to curb the activities of bandits, about 4 months ago.
