Katsina State Government says only 3 of the 13 frontline Local Government Areas, are under serious attacks by terrorist groups in the state.

The Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor, Ibrahim Katsina, who gave the names of the 3 Local Government Areas as Jibiya, Safana and Faskari, also said the government has banned the activities of the ‘Yan Sa Kai Volunteer group, who are suspected to be responsible for the resurgence of the attacks in the state.

According to the security aide to the governor, the state has in the past 6 months not witnessed any serious attacks, except for pockets of soft target, until the recent one that happened in Jibiya, leading to the death of the Divisional Police Officer of the Area, Deputy Superintendent Abdulkadir Rano.

Ibrahim Katsina added that those responsible for the attacks have been identified and involved the ‘Yan Sa Kai Volunteer group, who take the laws into their hands.

Katsina further added that, to ensure the state has full control of the security situation, they have employed the services of vigilante groups who are largely ex-servicemen.

The Governor’s security aide also said, with the current knowledge-based approach being taken, the state government is on top of the security situation in the state.

Katsina urged the police to deal decisively with anyone caught breaching the peace and security of the state, warning that the public should desist from taking the laws into their hands, especially whenever they arrest any terrorist or criminal within their localities.
