The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammed Babandede, has expressed the optimism that, if traditional rulers are effectively involved in the security business, the fight against insecurity will be won.
Babandede who made this known in Katsina during a 3-day working visit to the state, also warned corrupt officers and men, undermining the effective war against bandits, to desist or face the full wrath of the Immigration act.
The Immigration boss also paid a courtesy visit to Governor Aminu Masari, where he restated the need to empower local authorities in the state.

Babandede addressed officers and men when he arrived Katsina.
He warned them of connivance or corrupt tendencies, which hinders the effective fight against the bandits.
He also warned that whoever is caught will not only have his job on the line, but will face the full wrath of the Immigration Act, no matter how highly placed the officer is.
Babandede who also met with Gov.Aminu Masari told him the commitment of the service in the fight against banditry in the zone, and cited the vast border as a limitation.
He said as part of efforts to curb corruption among the officers, the service has secured 32 convictions in the state of officers and men engaged in corrupt practices.
The Immigration boss, therefore, called for the effective engagement of traditional rulers, to help fight banditry.
It is the hope that at the end of the visit, a more robust and effective fight against banditry in Katsina state and the Northwest zone, in general, will be enhanced.
