Katsina Police arrest suspected female gun runner supplying arms to bandits

Police in Katsina has nabbed a suspected female gun runner, supplying arms and ammunition to bandits in Kaduna State.

The 27-year-old suspect, Aisha Nura, of Baranda village, a Fulani settlement in the Batsari Local Government Area, was arrested with the sum of 2.4 million Naira, suspected to be proceeds of the arms deal.

Police spokesman, Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah, said the suspect is the wife of a notorious bandit, Nura Munrai, who is a member of a wanted notorious bandits’ leader, Abu Radda

Parading the woman alongside other suspected criminals, Isah said, nemesis caught up with her, when she was arrested while trying to conceal her presence and trying to board a motorcycle, from Batsari town, heading towards Nahuta village.

He also added that she confessed during interrogation, that her husband, Nura Munrai, sent her on an errand, to collect the 2.4 million Naira arms deal proceed, from a counterpart in Kaduna State.

The 27-year-old suspect, Aisha Nura, did not deny having the money but said she only knew her husband as a herdsman, denying that he is a bandit.

She also confessed to have been sent on an errand to collect the money but did not know the purpose for which the money was meant.

Another arrest in connection with banditry, was that of a said member of a notorious syndicate of armed robbers, terrorizing Batsari Local Government Area and its axis.

The Police spokesman said, the suspect, 20-year-old Kabir Musa, was nabbed based on credible information

Isah said nemesis caught up with him, when his gang attacked the residence of the duo of Muhammed Sada and Saminu Sada, both of Fura Girke village, of Batsari Local Government Area, having conspired with another suspect, Ila Lawal, to carry out the operation.

The police image maker further said the investigation is ongoing, with the view to arresting the other fleeing members of the different gangs.
