Police in Katsina says they have started the year 2023 on a winning note by killing a terrorist commander operating in the forest area of the Jibiya Local Government Area while repelling an attack.
In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 2 at about 4:30 am.
According to the statement, “Terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked a police Nipping point at Magama – Hirji junction, along Jibia – Katsina road”.

Isah added that the policemen engaged the terrorists in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them while 2 of the officers who sustained injuries were taken to Jibiya hospital, treated and discharged.
It was also gathered that One of the terrorists was neutralized, and one AK 47 rifle was recovered with 4 magazines containing 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition of AK 47 rifles.
Other exhibits recovered include Money while many of the terrorists were believed to have escaped the scene with gunshot injuries.
The police image maker, therefore, said search parties are still combing the area with a view to arresting or recovering more dead bodies of the terrorists.
