Katsina Police repel terrorists attack, rescue 21 victims

As part of its ongoing fight against terrorism in the state, police in Katsina say they have repelled a terrorists attack in 2 villages of Buraji and Sabon Sara of Matazu Local Government Area, rescuing 21 abducted victims.

In a statement by the spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah, the 21 rescued victims were made up of 15 women and 6 children, including 20 cows which were also recovered from the terrorists.

He added that, upon the receipt of the information, Area Commander, Dutsinma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mohammad Makama, led a team of police tactical units, blocked their exits route at Gandun Sarki village, engaged them in a fierce gun duel, and successfully rescued all the twenty-one (21) kidnapped victims and recovered twenty (20) rustled cows.

He also claimed that, during the incident, some terrorists were killed while others were believed to have, escaped the scene with gunshot wounds with the tactical teams still combing the area with a view of recovering their dead bodies and/or arresting the injured terrorists.
