Following the continued bandit attacks witnessed in some communities of the eight frontline local government areas of Katsina State, the state government has opted to seek divine intervention to support the ongoing joint military onslaught.
The first in the series of prayers organised by the State Ministry of Religious Affairs held at the late former Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Coomasie Juma’at Mosque, in the state capital.
The prayer session, which had about 300 Muslim faithful drawn from various Islamic religious groups such as the Jammatul Ibaadatu Bidyya Wa Ikkamatu Sunnah, Jibwis, Fityanul Islam, Council of Ulamas and Ahlul Qur’an also had Governor Aminu Masari and other top government officials in attendance.
The prayer session witnessed the recitation of the holy Qur’an and offering of special prayers to god to bring to an end to the current security situation facing the state.
Governor Masari, while addressing the faithful in the local dialect, enjoined them to continue intensifying prayers which is another way to seek an end to the unnecessary killings and attacks.
He added that no matter how worse a situation may be, prayers, believe and perseverance can definitely change the circumstance to a better one, urging the people to keep faith as the government is doing all it takes to ensure the situation improves.
Also speaking at the prayer session, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Religious Affairs Muhammed Lawal, said the aim is to have a peaceful and stable society to continue ushering in development.
While describing the move as apt, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Ibrahim Katsina, said it serves as a morale booster to the joint military troops in the forest.

The prayer session is to be replicated in the remaining 33 local government areas of the state in the days to come.
