The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has dismissed the appeal filed by Atiku Bagudu seeking to upturn the February 25, 2023, Kebbi Central Senatorial District election which Senator Adamu Aliero of the Peoples Democratic Party emerged winner.

The appellate court dismissed the appeal that it lacked merit, and that Bagudu failed to provide proven evidence to substantiate his claim before the court.

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the Kebbi State had earlier dismissed the petition filed by Bagudu of the All Progressive Congress for also lacking in merit.

Dissatisfied with the decision of the lower court, Bagudu approached the court of appeal in Abuja to challenge the decision of the tribunal, praying the court to set aside the judgment.

While delivering judgment in the appeal, the appellate court upheld the decision of the lower court which affirmed the victory of Senator Adamu Aliero of the Peoples Democratic Party.
