Kebbi Govt. To Prosecute Farmers Trading off Government’s Agric Inputs

The Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris has directed security operatives to arrest sellers and buyers of free agricultural inputs provided by government to farmers.

The governor gave the order in Bagudo at the flag off of the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers provided free by the Member, House of Representatives, Bagudo/ Suru Constituency, Muhammad Bello Ka’oje.

Gov Idris said those who received farming implements free, should utilize them to improve their yields, especially in irrigation farming

“The items must not be auctioned by the beneficiaries for monetary benefits for whatever purpose, use them to till the land”,

“Security services are hereby ordered to arrest both sellers and buyers of farming materials provided by the government for agricultural production, you have no reason to sell them”, the governor warned.

Bello Ka’oje, announced that 9,400 beneficiaries from Bagudo and Suru Local Government Areas have been empowered to pursue agricultural production and entrepreneurship.

“180 water pumping machines, 550 bags of improved rice seeds, 1,380 bags of improved maize seeds, 2000 cartons of sprayers,1000 bags of animal feed (dussa), have been distributed to farmers and Fulani herders”,

“Similarly, 50 motorcycles and 150 sewing machines have been given out for commercial purposes to assist beneficiaries become self reliant”,

The Chairman of Bagudo Local Government Council, Aliyu Sambo Zagga, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for facilitating the establishment of Lolo Dry Port in the area to improve trade and commerce for social and economic prosperity of Kebbi and the Northern region.

He announced that all owners of land acquired for the project have been paid compensation by the kebbi administration, ranging from N1 million and above.
