Vice President Kashim Shettima, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Gomo II).
The Vice President described the Emir’s death as a deep loss to Nigeria’s traditional institution and military heritage.
The Emir of Zuru, a retired military officer, passed at the age of 81 in a London hospital after a brief illness.
He was a respected leader who combined military discipline with traditional wisdom and community service.
In a condolence message on Saturday, Vice President Shettima noted that the late Emir, was an eminent leader representing a generation of Nigeria’s post-independence leadership.
Shettima highlighted the impact of the Emir’s passing, comparing it to the falling of a giant tree that alters the landscape forever.
The Vice President acknowledged the late Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami’s contributions to Nigeria’s traditional and military landscapes stressing that his passing has left a mark on the institutions, and his legacy as a leader who bridged military and traditional roles is being remembered.
