Kebbi State Government has carried out training on “Safe Schools Initiative” for principals of Secondary Schools and Colleges as academic activities reopen.
This is coming in the aftermath of the abduction of students of the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in November last year.
Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Halima Bande, said it had become necessary to incorporate school administrators into the programme to ensure an all inclusive state of alertness. She called on school principals to keep regular contact with security agencies and be proactive.
Bande says the rescue of the Maga school girls has restored confidence in the security measures put in place since the incident and urged parents and students not to give up on pursuing their academic ambitions.
