Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, says, he is ready to implement the new national minimum wage of N70,000 for all workers in the state.
Idris spoke in Birnin Kebbi when the leadership of the State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Idris noted that the recent campaign of calumny sponsored by some elements on the alleged non payment of the new national minimum wage, was inconsequential to the policy thrust of his administration to improve the quality of life of Kebbi people.
He explained that even the Federal Government which approved the new is yet to commence payment until modalities have been finalised.
Idris renewed his earlier pledge that he will immediately commence implementation as soon as the template to do so was delivered to the state government.
He affirmed that, when ready, the state Council of the NLC and his govenrment would dialogue to chart the best course of action for implementation.
The state NLC Chairman. Murtala Usman said the visit was to show appreciation to the Governor for being the most labour friendly and workers’ Governor in the country.
He also commended Nasir Idris for appointing two labour leaders into his administration as permanent secretaries.
