The Police have confirmed the safe release of former Accountant-General of Cross River State, Rose Bassey who was kidnapped some days ago along the Calabar-Ugep Highway, even as commuters lament the increasing insecurity on the highway.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo was however silent over the remaining three passengers kidnapped along with the former Accountant-General at the same Uyanga-Ikomita section of the road in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, South-South Nigeria.

Some motorists who spoke with our correspondent expressed worries about the incessant kidnappings along the Calabar-Ugep Road, calling on the State Government and security agencies to take urgent steps to stop the situation.
Passengers called on security agencies to deploy their men to all the bad spots along the highway up to Ogoja, saying the criminals were using the bad spots along the highway to perpetrate their evil acts.
