The kidnapped wife and children of late former Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Zakawanu Garuba, have been released by their abductors.

Hassana Garuba, her three children, and the aged mother of the late Speaker were reportedly kidnapped around the Lokoja Okene-Auchi section of Benin highway on July 18, 2020.
They were on their way from Abuja to Auchi to bury Garuba, who died of undisclosed ailment in the early hours of Saturday in Abuja when the abduction took place.
A younger brother to the deceased Speaker, who did not want to be named, confirmed the release of the widow by her abductors.

He, however, said that the whereabouts of the driver still remains unknown
