The family of the nine-year-old, Ahmad Yakubu who was gruesomely murdered in an uncompleted building in Barkalahu area of Gusau metropolis five months ago, where some parts of his body were removed, are demanding justice.

Briefing journalists in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, spokesperson of the victim’s family, Salisu Abdulrahman, claimed that five months after the incident, they have not heard anything regarding the prosecution of the suspected killers of the boy.

Four suspects were arrested by the Zamfara State Police Command in connection with the killing and arraigned at the Gusau Magistrate Court, after which the presiding magistrate, Sa’adu Garba, said the matter is a criminal case that the court did not have jurisdiction to entertain.

He, therefore, said the matter would be transferred to a court of competent jurisdiction.

The family of the victim is claiming that they do not know which court the case has been transferred to, and they also alleged that some influential persons in the state are trying to sweep the matter under the carpet.

The victim’s family, therefore, is calling on the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed, who is in the full knowledge of the case, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, and civil society organisations to intervene, to ensure that nine-year-old Ahmad Yakubu gets justice from the law.

It would be recalled that the Zamfara State Police Command had on January 4, acted on an intelligence report, and arrested four suspects, in connection with the killing.

The suspects were Aminu Baba, 57 years old, Abdulshakur Mohammed, 20 years old, Abdullahi Buba, 17 and Ahmad Tukur 14 years old.

During police interrogation, one of the suspects, Abdulshakur Mohammed, confessed that this is the third time that he was contracted by the first suspect, Aminu Baba, to source human parts, for the sum of N500,000. He said he deceived the boy into an uncompleted building where he killed him.

The first suspect, Aminu Baba in his account admitted that he usually eats the human parts and sells some.
