Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo has advised the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to implement the resolution of the party to reserve 40 percent of positions to women especially during the local government elections in the state billed for October this year.
Governor Ododo gave the advice during an expanded stakeholders’ meeting of the party held in Lokoja, the state capital.
The governor, who commended the decision of the APC in the state to nominate women as Vice chairmanship candidates across the 21 local government areas in Kogi state, said his administration is committed to consolidating on the achievement of his predecessor in the attainment of the 35% affirmative action for women in elective positions.

The Governor called on the leadership of the party to engage in wide consultations with major political actors to produce candidates that will represent the party in the 239 wards in Kogi State.
The Kogi State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, promised inclusiveness in the council elections and expressed optimism about the success of the party at the polls.
