From the ages, Kings, Queens and other kinds of traditional rulers have always been the bastion of socioeconomic and political development in the society.

The Kogi state governor, Usman Ododo, certainly realizes this time tested approach to governance hence he is soliciting the cooperation of the traditional rulers in the state to enable his administration to move the Confluence State forward.

The Governor made the call in Lokoja on Friday when he presented staff of office to Akinrin of Ekinrin land, His Royal Majesty Johnson Kolade Otitoju as a first class traditional ruler in the State.

The staff of office is a symbol of authority that will enable the Monarch to connect with his People at the grassroots to achieve equitable development in his domain.

Governor Usman Ododo advised the monarch to uphold the rich cultural heritage of his people and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting him to succeed in his kingdom.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Salami Deedat, said the presentation of staff of office to His Royal Majesty, Johnson Kolade Otitoju, underscores the Ododo administration’s commitment to the principles on fairness, equity and justice.

One of the children of the monarch and prominent broadcast Journalist with the Television Continental, (TVC), Babajide Otitoju, commended Governor Ododo for the honour given to his father to serve his people.

His Royal Majesty Johnson Kolade Otitoju is the fourth Akinrin of Ekinrin land in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, north central Nigeria.
