The Kogi State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja will on Saturday, May 23 deliver judgment in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and its candidate, Musa Wada challenging the victory of Governor Yahaya Bello of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the November 16, 2019 governorship election.
It is the last of the petitions filed against the declaration of Governor Bello as winner of the election. Meanwhile, the Tribunal on Friday dismissed the petition brought by the Action Peoples Party, APP.
In the judgement delivered by Justice Baraka Wali, the Tribunal held that the APP was not in anyway excluded from the election when it did not have a validly nominated candidate and failed to replace its governorship flagbearer after disqualification.
The Tribunal further held that the Party failed to substitute its candidate within the stipulated time prescribed by law and awarded the sum of N100,000 in favour of the respondent.
